FRIDAY
5:00 - 6:30 p.m. ~ Registration

Olin's Family Weekend 2007 has fallen upon us! Visit the Olin Center lobby to pick up your registration packet, which includes area maps and attractions, a schedule of events and other helpful information. All of your weekend questions can be answered at the registration desk. There is a $30 per family registration fee which includes all on campus activities, dinner on Friday and breakfast on Sunday.

5:00 - 7:00 p.m. ~ The Olin Family Fall Feast in New England
Dining Hall
This New England-style feast will provide a taste of the local cuisine as we welcome Olin families to campus. Sink your teeth into native corn on the cob, Boston Baked Beans, New England Clam Chowder, Massachusetts Mud Pie and other harvest delights of the area.

7:15 - 7:45 p.m. ~ Olin Bubble

"The Olin Bubble" is the affectionate term students have come to call the experience of studying and living at Olin. This student-created documentary takes a creative approach to explaining the unique quirks of an Olin education and reveals that everything might not be as it appears.

Are you ready for “Something Completely Different?” Come hear what cool activities Olin community members have been exploring. Here's your chance to learn what people did this summer and what exciting projects they're falling into this semester. Our a cappella group is only one of the many talents that will be displayed during this fun, informal performance and presentation event! Stick around afterwards to satisfy your sweet tooth and hear more from the presenters.

9:30 - 10:00 p.m. ~ Illumination Innovation: A Fire Art Performance
Oval
Witness this unique display of student talent and passion for fire performance by the Olin Fire Arts club. Using different tools and alternating movements, these artists will take turns twirling and spinning fire to create beautiful red and orange patterns for your entertainment. This spectacle is guaranteed to light your fire! (Safety is a critical part of fire performances. Olin students actively practice fire safety during every performance.)

Drawing on players of many skill levels but one love for the game, Olin's second foray towards organized soccer is moving toward future athletic opportunities at Olin. Come see the team play in its second season. The game will be approx. 70 minutes, not including halftime. An RSVP for this event is not required.

11:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. ~ At a Glance: The SCOPE of It All
Olin Auditorium

The Olin curriculum culminates in the Senior Consulting Program for Engineering (SCOPE) in which students engage in significant engineering projects under realistic constraints for an actual client. In this session, SCOPE's Director, Dr. David Barrett will discuss the vision, goals and structure of the program. A summary of the value added from last year's projects as well as highlights of this year's projects will also be presented by students.

12:30 – 8:00 p.m. ~ Boston/Needham by Day

Here's your chance to explore the area on your own. A helpful guide complete with area museums, shops, restaurants and other "hot spots" is available. Please note: Lunch and dinner for Saturday are on your own. You are welcome to enjoy lunch (Cost: $7.75) and dinner (Cost: $9.00) in the Dining Hall.

2:00 – 4:00 p.m. ~ Sports Scene

Who says Olin doesn't have sports? Families, students, faculty and staff can team up for, or watch, friendly games of croquet, bocce or ultimate frisbee. Want something with a little more kick to it? Jump in for a game of pick up soccer.

6:00 – 9:00 p.m. ~ An Entrepreneurship Showcase
The Foundry at the Edison House
The Foundry, Olin's student business incubator, will be hosting an evening of desserts, espresso and entrepreneurship. There will be pitches from Olin student businesses every half hour, and students will be around to share their ideas throughout the evening. This is an opportunity to learn about Olin's commitment to Entrepreneurship and see the exciting projects students have been creating.

6:00 – 8:00 p.m. ~ Family Dinner On Your Own
A reminder: Lunch and dinner for Saturday are on your own. You are welcome to enjoy lunch (Cost: $7.75) and dinner (Cost: $9.00) in the Dining Hall. Many students or families take this opportunity to make reservations at local restaurants. For recommended restaurants, visit the Dining page on our website or those included in your Family Weekend packets.

8:00 – 10:00 p.m. ~ Game On!
Are you ready for some friendly family competition? I scream. You scream. We all scream for the ice cream bar to satisfy our dessert craving.

Find out here by making your parents and those seniors join your team!

Ever wish you could trade places with your student to see what it is like being a college student again? Wonder what's going on inside and out of your student's Olin courses?  Well here's your chance as faculty and students give you a glimpse into "a day in the life of..." Presentations for each run approx. a half hour with 10 min. Q & A and 5 min. travel time in between. They occur simultaneously and repeat; thus you will be able to attend three of four courses (including research reviews and Study Away).

What job and research opportunities are available to them as a student and after Olin? What are our new alumni doing now? You'll also hear more about internship, research, graduate school and job placement resources available to your student and have the opportunity to listen as a few students share their most recent experiences.

If you'd like to enjoy a meal before you depart, the Dining Hall will be open for lunch (Cost: $7.75 ).
